Our story begins over 40 years ago in a diner just outside of Newark, New Jersey. Established in the 1950s, it was widely known for its deserts and their sign read "Baked on Premise." The cheesecakes, in particular, were said to be the best.

Around this time a young woman named Mary Anne, began her first job as a waitress. Although inexperienced she quickly learned and was determined to succeed. The senior baker observed and admired Mary Anne's ambition. So during slower shifts, they would chat. Soon, a friendship began. he shared his experience as a baker as well as the secrets to his recipes.

Mary Anne's new love for baking began at home during holidays and for special occasions, the family favorite was cheesecake. So she experimented with many different flavors and crusts, perfecting her homemade cheesecake. Friends and family suggested she open a bakery which was one of Mary Anne's dreams.

Today that dream has become a reality for us all. It's a Piece of Cake, is owned and operated by family under Mary Anne's supervision. Supplying many local restaurants with the same cheesecake families have enjoyed for many years.

However, you do not have to travel to the Upstate of South Carolina to enjoy a slice.
